South Korea is a major growing SMS market, but there are few restrictions we should take note of before sending A2P or Marketing SMS to South Korea.
Is Alphanumeric sender ID supported in South Korea?
- No. Only Numeric Sender ID are supported and alphanumeric Sender ID will be replaced with global numeric Sender ID (eg: 0060000) to ensure delivery.
Is the DR reliable?
- Delivery reports are provided. However, they only indicates that the operator has received the message and are not handset level.
Is concatenated SMS supported in South Korea?
- No. Concatenated SMS are not supported by majority of the operators such as KTF and LGU+. Hence long concatenated SMS will be received in parts for the operators that doesn't support Long SMS.
- Only SK Telekom supports concatenated SMS.
Are there any restriction in the content allowed for SMS?
- Yes. Please note that our Korea route does not support any illegal contents, such as gambling, adult-related content, scam or spam.
- Any spamming of suspicious messages are serious offence in South Korea and it may trigger suspending your account and investigation from local authorities.
Yeah! I received my SMS but why is my content altered?
- All SMS content will be prepended by the below text by operators:
- "[Web 발신]" which means SMS sent from Web, or
- "[국제발신]" which means SMS sent from aboard.
